The Brazilian Summer Comes with Variety
Avocados as diverse as Brazil
If you are on a trip to Brazil, you will get a taste of countless exotic fruits. The excellent climate provides a rich supply of exotic and delicious fruit, which is available in the markets at a reasonable price. The avocado is one of them. Not only is it good for your health, but its preparation methods are just as varied as Brazil itself. We know the avocado in salads or as well as spiced guacamole. In many South American countries, however, it is a popular base for desserts. Brazilians, for example, love the "creme de abacate", an avocado mousse with lime juice and cane sugar. Summer can come with these and other refreshing recipes.
The avocado is considered a superfood because it contains large quantities of valuable ingredients. Rich in vitamins and valuable fatty acids, it ensures beautiful skin and hair. When bought, avocados are often still hard and inedible, but they ripen and as soon as the skin gives way slightly under pressure, you can eat the delicious green flesh. The so-called "abacateiro" (avocado tree), which can grow to a height of twenty meters and be a hundred years old, bears the tasty fruit. A garden without this plant is rather rare in South America. Be it on estates, backyards, or in public parks. In the countryside as well as in the city, people make frequent use of the nutritious avocado. If you would like to plant an abacateiro now, simply plant the seed directly into the soil or let the roots take root in a glass of water first. In winter, store in a bright, cool place at about fifteen degrees. Good luck!
On a round trip in Brazil, from the colonial capital of Salvador de Bahia to Rio de Janeiro, you can find juice bars offering "vitaminas" everywhere. A delicious drink, which belongs to the Brazilian agenda. It is a shake with milk and fresh fruits. The avocado can also be used as a base here. For the "vitamina de abacate", the green meat is mixed with cane sugar and milk. Another variation is fresh avocado ice cream. It is often prepared in the household. One mixes a large, ripe avocado with a quarter liter of cream, vanilla sugar, a hundred grams of cane sugar, and fresh lime juice. Then put it in the ice cream machine or the freezer. If you like it a little less sweet and rich, simply replace the cream with natural yogurt. A great eye-catcher for the summer party is to serve it in the empty avocado bowls.
Even though the desserts with avocado and sugar are certainly not light in calories, your body will thank you for it. It gets a rich portion of vitamins E and B, as well as potassium. An avocado contains about one and a half times as much as a banana. Potassium is important for the function of nerves and muscles. Besides, unsaturated fatty acids have a positive effect on the cholesterol level. Anyone who prepares the delicious tropical fruit with the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon or lime will also have covered their daily requirement of vitamin C. As you can see, there are many reasons to put the green all-rounder on the menu more often, not only on vacation in Brazil.
