Chapada dos Guimaraes is a mountain range in the interior of Brazil. The small town of the same name, with 18,190 inhabitants, has charming small streets and rustic architecture. A true gem of the town would be the baroque-style church Nossa Senhora de Santana do Sacramento from 1779. Breathtaking nature awaits you in the "Parque Nacional de Chapada": countless caves, peaks, waterfalls, rock formations and a species-rich flora and fauna. Numerous hiking trails lead through beautiful landscapes with good tourist infrastructure. Across the 33,000-hectare terrain, visitors can discover more than 50 archaeological sites, rock paintings and prehistoric fossils.
