Curitiba is a large city in the South of Brazil and has a population of 1.8 million. Numerous exhilarating places cover many areas of interest and make a detour while traveling in Brazil worthwhile. The city, with over a million inhabitants, once grew due to a large number of foreign immigrants. Poles, Germans, Italians, Ukrainians, French, English and Dutch settled and shaped the area. Today, Curitiba is considered a national example of environmental protection and modern infrastructure. The cityscape is characterized by numerous parks, boulevards, historic buildings, squares and attractions. The most famous sight, the Botanical Garden, is not to be missed. On a territory of 25 hectares you have the chance to explore numerous plants from all parts of Brazil. At the heart of the garden is the greenhouse, whose design is inspired by English crystal palaces. Curitiba also boasts a historic old town, cultural highlights and numerous museums. The best view is from the Torre Panoramica. The tower offers a great panoramic view over the metropolis. The South of Brazil has moderate, rather cool climate year round.
