Brazil Travel Packages: Fortaleza
Fortaleza is the capital of the state of Ceara and has about 2.5 million inhabitants. Since the most popular beaches and resorts of this region, such as Jericoacoara or Canoa Quebrada, are located outside of Fortaleza, it is usually only considered in travel planning because of its airport for a short layover. The main points of access to the city are Praia da Iracema and Praia do Futuro as well as the shoreline itself. In the city center there is the old prison on Rua Senador Pompeu, which today serves as a tourist center. For walking, the locals use the Passeio Publico and the Parque Ecologico do Coco, which was created to protect the last mangroves in the city. The Teatro Jose de Alencar is also a popular destination for culture lovers. Authentic Brazilian flair can be found, above all, in the city center at Praca Jose Alencar, where a range of good street musicians, vendors and storytellers set up shop. In Fortaleza you can expect warm to hot temperatures year round with slight seasonal fluctuations. The average temperature range is from 70 °F (21 °C) to 86 °F (30 °C). The maximum amount of sunlight coupled with the minimum amount of rainfall await you from August to December. From February to May there is more rainfall.
