In the summer months (December to February), travelers in Nova Friburgo can expect daily high temperatures between 23 °C and 25 °C (73 °F to 77 °F). On cooler days it is sometimes only 14 °C to 15 °C (57 °F to 59 °F). This period is particularly rainy with precipitation of around 180 mm to 280 mm (7.1 in to 11 in) per month.
Fall offers visitors pleasantly warm weather with occasional rainfall. Temperatures vary between 10 °C and 24 °C (50 °F to 75 °F), and only at night can it occasionally get a little cooler. Average rainfall during this period is 50 mm to 160 mm (2 in to 6.3 in) per month.
Due to the city’s altitude in the mountains, the winter (March to May) can be very cold. Nova Friburgo is considered the coldest city in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
