Time zones and time differences in Brazil

There are four different time zones in Brazil from West to East, which are usually traversed while on vacation. To that end, travelers should always synchronize their watches with the local time on arrival. Local time in Brazil is usually later than Central Standard Time (CST) that runs through the middle of the United States, referring to a difference of minus six hours in comparison to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

Acre Time (AT), aligned with Eastern Standard Time (EST), categorizing New York and Washington, D.C.
Locations: State of Acre and 13 counties in the western Amazon.
The difference is one hour ahead of Central Standard Time (minus five hours in comparison to Coordinated Universal Time).
 

Brazil: Central & North UTC-4

Amazon Time (AMT), which is one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time.
Locations: States of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondonia, Roraima and the rest of the Amazon.
The difference is two hours ahead of Central Standard Time (minus four hours in comparison to Coordinated Universal Time).

Brazil: East UTC-3

Brasilia Time (BRT), which is two hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time.
Locations: States of Alagoas, Amapa, Bahia, Ceara, Para, Maranhao, Paraiba, Pernambuco, Piaui, Rio Grande do Norte, Sergipe, Tocantins, Distrito Federal, Espirito Santo, Goias, Minas Gerais, Parana, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Sao Paulo.
The difference is three hours ahead of Central Standard Time (minus three hours in comparison to Coordinated Universal Time).

Brazil: Far East UTC-2

Fernando de Noronha Time (FNT), which is three hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time.
Locations: Fernando de Noronha and other islands far from the coast in the Atlantic Ocean.
The difference is four hours ahead of Central Standard Time (minus two hours in comparison to Coordinated Universal Time).
