Experience the unique flora and fauna of the Amazon region on an expedition cruise in a small English-speaking group. Your expedition cruise starts at your chosen date. We guarantee every departure with the first booking of a double cabin. The maximum number of passengers on every expedition cruise is 10 guests. Nevertheless it will be a very private and familiar atmosphere. On this trip to the Amazon, you will stay on a typical Amazonas boat and enjoy full board. You will also go on daily excursions, often on a smaller motorboat, with an experienced English-speaking guide. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the Anavilhanas archipelago and the Acajatuba community, as well as visit a floating village.

Itinerary

Day 1: Amazons Expedition Cruise Begins

Included: Transfer (in-group) | Visit Floating Village, Walking Tour Januarilandia Park, Night Safari (in-group) | Lunch, Dinner

Early in the morning, you will be picked up at your hotel in Manaus or from the airport by your English-speaking guide, who will take you to the port of Manaus. The expedition boat will then sail downstream for you to see the impressive meeting of Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes. Afterwards, you will visit a floating village that is home to around 30 families, and you will be able to gain some insight into their daily lives. In Janauarilandia Park, you will see the giant water lilies and possibly some caimans. Dinner will be served on board. Afterwards, you will go on a nocturnal excursion and have the chance to experience the shining eyes of the caimans and the sounds of the Amazon wildlife.

Overnight: Expedition Boat, Cabin with a/c and private bathroom

Day 2: Hiking and Piranha Fishing

In the morning, you will sail to Rio Jaraqui while you have breakfast on board. You will then go ashore for a rainforest hike accompanied by both your English-speaking guide and a local guide with extensive knowledge of the area. During the tour you will learn about the flora and fauna of the Amazon Rainforest, especially about the countless medicinal plants. Afterwards, a relaxed barbecue awaits you for lunch, and you will have some free time to relax or swim in the Jaraqui River. In the afternoon, you will go to the Anavilhanas Archipelago where you can fish for piranhas and watch the sunset from the motor boat. After dinner you will enjoy another wildlife-watching nocturnal excursion.

Day 3: Sunrise Tour and Return to Manaus

Before breakfast, you will go out on the motorboat for a sunrise tour to watch the birds awaken and maybe even spot some Amazon dolphins. After breakfast on board, the expedition boat will depart to the Acajatuba community. This is a native village with a school and church, whose inhabitants are from various ethnic backgrounds. Afterwards, you will have lunch on board and return to Manaus. You will arrive in the late afternoon, and from there you will be transferred to your hotel or to the airport.

  • The electricity on board, which is also needed for the air conditioning in the cabins, is produced by a generator. This generator is located below deck and can also be heard in the cabins.
  • The Amazon region can be visited all year round. However, it should be noted that the water level between October and December can be so low that the smaller side arms of the rivers cannot be navigated.
  • The itinerary can be adjusted according to weather conditions. The order of excursions can change and animal sightings cannot be guaranteed.
  • The ceiling height of both ships is about 5.9 feet (1.80 meters).
