Staying at Amazon Turtle Lodge is a great opportunity to explore the magnificent environment of the Amazon. The lodge is located in the Mamori River region, on the shores of Lake Turtle, about 3.5 hours from Manaus. It was inaugurated in 2010 and the concept of the lodge is mainly focused on sustainable tourism. On diverse excursions you will get to know the Amazon region with its impressive flora and fauna very intimately. Together with an experienced English-speaking guide, you will go on discovery tours into the rainforest.
Itinerary
Day 1: From Manaus to Your Rainforest Lodge
Included: Transfer with a Stop at the "Meeting of the Waters" (in-group, 3.5h) | Boat Excursion (in-group) | Lunch, Dinner
Your English-speaking guide will pick you up at around 8:00 a.m. from your hotel in Manaus or from the airport. The transfer to Amazon Turtle Lodge will take about 3.5 hours and is done via land and water. During the journey you will cross the “Meeting of the Waters” and gain first impressions of the Amazon.
Arrival at the lodge is scheduled for around 12:00 noon and then you will have lunch. You will serve yourself fresh fish, meat, salads, and fruit from the Amazon region.
After lunch you will go on your first excursion with your English-speaking guide. You will take a motorized canoe to get to know the surroundings of the lodge. Later, after dinner has been served, let the day sink away with a fresh drink under the moonlight.

Day 2: Amazon from Dawn to Dusk
Included: Sunrise Tour, Nature Hike, Canoe Excursion, Caiman Spotting (in-group) | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
For the best experiences possible in the Amazon Rainforest, you have to get up early. At around 5:30 a.m. you will go on a sunrise and bird watching excursion. It will be a great chance to be impressed by awakening Amazon fauna and the play of colors over the green rainforest.
After breakfast there will be an exciting jungle tour to learn about Amazon biodiversity and flora. Your guide will also demonstrate some survival techniques and talk about medicinal plants.
After lunch you will set off for one of the most popular excursions. Back on the river, you will try your luck with a rod and bait to catch the famous piranha.
Later, after dinner has been served, you will go on a night safari to spot caimans along the river margins. Most of the time the guide will manage to catch one and give everyone a chance to have a closer look and take a memorable picture. The caiman will then be released unharmed into the wild.

Day 3: Cassava Plantation and Departure
Included: Meet the Locals (in-group) | Transfer (in-group, 3.5h) | Breakfast, Lunch
After you have enjoyed the last breakfast at the lodge you will leave to visit a native's home and learn about their life in the Amazon. You will get to know about their different way of life, customs, and traditions. On this trip you will also visit a cassava plantation and learn about the importance of the cassava products for the local economy. Following this interesting insight into the local culture, you will have lunch at the lodge's restaurant before heading back to Manaus.

- All excursions and transfers will be done in small groups with other travelers. The limit for baggage is 33 lbs (15 kg) per person. Excess baggage can be stored in Manaus at the lodge’s office or at your hotel.
- The itinerary may be adjusted due to weather conditions. The order of excursions may change and animal sightings cannot be guaranteed.
- Credit cards are not accepted at the lodge. Please bring some cash for additional beverages/drinks at the bar and restaurant.
