Rio Amazonas Clipper Cruise 3 Days of Nature and Wildlife Observation

Travel Number: 53305

Rio Amazonas Clipper Cruise 3 Days of Nature and Wildlife Observation Brazil | Amazon

On this 3-day cruise in the Amazon, you will be immersed in natural wonders and explore the amazing diversity of the rainforest. On daily excursions with a specially trained English-speaking guide, you will learn about the region's unique flora and fauna. Wildlife observation is one of many highlights. With luck, you will see snakes, sloths, tapirs, otters, caimans, and monkeys in their natural habitat.

Itinerary

Day 1: Departure from Manaus

Included: Lecture, Night Safari (in-group) | Dinner

You will board the Amazon Clipper at 2:00 p.m. As the boat sails towards Rio Amazonas (Rio Solimoes), the crew will serve you a welcome drink and provide you with information about your itinerary. Afterwards, there will be a lecture about the Amazon to give you insights into the rainforest. After dinner, you and your English-speaking guide will go on a night discovery tour to explore the banks of the river with the help of powerful searchlights. It is likely that these lights will pick up the shining eyes of the many caimans in the area.

Overnight: Amazon Clipper Boat, Cabin with private bathroom

Day 2: Exploration Day

Included: Sunrise Tour, Meet the Locals, Piranha Fishing, Night Safari (in-group) | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

You will awaken to the beautiful sights of Lake Janauaca. You will then go on an early morning adventure tour in a motor canoe. With luck, you may spot pink river dolphins and a wide variety of bird species. After breakfast you will go on a rainforest hike and learn about the communities that live around the lake. These communities live off the abundance of the Amazon, sustaining themselves on manioc and rubber plantations, river fishing, fruit trees, Brazil nut trees, timber, and other products. In the late afternoon, you will have the opportunity to try your hand at fishing for piranhas. After dinner on board, you will return to the canoe to try to spot some nocturnal animals and (weather permitting) observe the spectacular canopy of stars and constellations of the southern hemisphere.

Overnight: Amazon Clipper Boat, Cabin with private bathroom

Day 3: Meeting of the Waters and Return do Manaus

Included: Morning Hike (in-group) | Breakfast

The day will start off with one last excursion to the Lake Janauari Ecological Park, where you should be able to spot many types of birds and see the famous giant water lilies. Then you will explore an atmospheric flooded forest by canoe or on foot. There is a raised walkway to observe wildlife both in the trees and in the water. During breakfast, the boat will set off towards the "Meeting of the Waters." Here you will experience the unique natural spectacle of the bright waters of Rio Solimoes and the dark waters of Rio Negro flowing side-by-side. Finally, the boat will return to Manaus and you will disembark at around 11:30 a.m.
