This six-day Amazon cruise includes all the highlights of both the Rio Amazonas and Rio Negro cruises. During the many excursions, you will gain an insight into the local culture and learn about the exotic plants, fruits, and animals of the Amazon Rainforest. With luck, you may spot animals such as monkeys, otters, snakes, tapirs and sloths, and a wide variety of birds. All excursions are led by a specially trained English-speaking guide.
Itinerary
Day 1: Embarkation and Caiman Spotting
Included: Lecture, Night Safari by Boat (in-group) | Dinner
At around 2:00 p.m., you will board the boat and depart towards Rio Amazonas (Rio Solimoes). The crew will serve you a welcome drink and provide information about your itinerary and the boat's facilities. Afterwards, a light snack will be served, and there will be a lecture from the English-speaking guide about the Amazon. The lecture will provide you with fascinating insights into the ecology of the Amazon region. After dinner, you will go out on a motor canoe to explore the riverbank with the help of powerful searchlights. You will probably see caimans, and sometimes nighthawks, snakes, sloths, and frogs.

Day 2: Amazon Rainforest from Dawn till Dusk
Included: Sunrise Tour, Meet the Locals, Piranha Fishing, Night Safari (in-group) | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
You will awaken to the sight of the beautiful Lake Janauaca. Then you will head out on a motor canoe for some birdwatching, and with luck, you may even see some pink river dolphins. After breakfast, you will go on a rainforest hike and learn about the communities that live around the lake. These communities live off the abundance of the Amazon, sustaining themselves on manioc and rubber plantations, river fishing, fruit trees, Brazil nut trees, timber, and other products. In the late afternoon, you will have the opportunity to try your hand at fishing for piranha. After dinner on the boat, you will return to the canoe to try to spot some nocturnal animals and (weather permitting) observe the spectacular canopy of stars and constellations of the southern hemisphere.

Day 3: The Famous "Meeting of the Waters"
Included: Morning Hike, Lecture, Night Safari (in-group) | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
You will start the day with a tour of Lake Janauari Ecological Park. There, you should be able to see many different types of birds, as well as the famous giant water lilies. During breakfast, the boat will head towards the "Meeting of the Waters". Here you will experience the unique natural spectacle of the bright waters of Rio Solimoes and the dark waters of Rio Negro flowing side-by-side. Then the boat will head upstream on the Rio Negro, passing the Port of Manaus with views of the floating docks, public market, old custom house, and opera house dome. After lunch, you will have another illuminating lecture about the Amazon region. After dinner, you will head out in the canoe to explore a flooded forest. There, you will be serenaded by birds and frogs, and possibly even spot some nocturnal animals.

Day 4: Bird Watching and Anavilhanas Archipelago
Included: Morning Safari, Nature Hike, Boat Excursion (in-group) | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
You will start the day with a birdwatching trip in the canoe. You will explore the rainforest along the riverbank and possibly spot some fruit-eating birds like parrots and toucans. After breakfast, you will go on a rainforest hike to learn more about its flora and fauna. At around midday, you will return to the boat and have the opportunity to cool off with a refreshing dip in the river. In the afternoon, you will cruise through Anavilhanas National Park, one of the world's largest freshwater archipelagos, with its fascinating maze of waterways. Later, you will explore this beautiful national park by canoe and learn more about the area.

Day 5: Life in the Amazon and Dolphin Spotting

Before breakfast, you will be able to go fishing if you wish. After breakfast, you will visit a local community. The locals, who are of indigenous ancestry, will share their vast knowledge of the rainforest and about the preparation of cassava flour with you. After lunch, you will visit one of the area's white-sand beaches, where (water levels permitting) you will be able to swim. If you are really lucky, you may also catch a glimpse of some rare pink river dolphins. In the late afternoon, you will go animal spotting on the canoe. Dinner will be served as the boat heads back towards the Amazon.

Day 6: Return to Manaus
Included: Morning Nature Walk | Breakfast
At dawn, you will again have the opportunity to visit Lake Janauari Ecological Park. The park is usually a great place to observe wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, and birds. Later, while you are having breakfast, the boat will head back to the "Meeting of the Waters" and then to Manaus. You will disembark at around 11:30 a.m.

- Departure: The cruise always starts on Mondays. Please contact us for available dates.
- The Amazon region can be visited all year round. However, it should be noted that the water level between October and December can be so low that the smaller side arms of the rivers cannot be navigated.
- The itinerary can be adjusted according to weather conditions. The order of excursions can change and animal sightings cannot be guaranteed.
