Experience the best of the Amazon Rainforest on this 4-day trip into the Mamiraua Reserve. On various excursions with an English-speaking guide you will discover the original and authentic way of life in the Amazon. You will get to know the flora and fauna by canoe and on hikes and gain interesting insight from researchers and locals. Fingers crossed that you will also be able to see some wildlife such as dolphins, monkeys, macaws, or sloths.
Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Mamiraua Reserve

Upon arrival in the Amazon city of Tefe, you will by greeted by your English-speaking guide. The transfer to Uakari Lodge continues with a 1.5-hour boat trip deep into the heart of the rainforest.
At the lodge you can get familiar with the amenities and enjoy a tasty lunch. For the afternoon, a short interpretation walk will give you a first close impression of this unique ecosystem, and with some luck you will also be able to spot wild animals in their natural habitat. After dinner there will be an interesting presentation about the work of the Mamiraua Sustainable Development Reserve.

Day 2: Insight from Locals and Researchers
Included: Community Visit, Canoe Tour, Meet the Researchers (in-group) | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Today’s schedule includes a visit to a local community. Together with your guide you will stroll through a local village to gain insight into the daily life of the people. Full of new impressions, you will return to the lodge to enjoy lunch. In the afternoon you will go on a canoe trip to paddle through the flooded rainforest. Led by your experienced guide, you will hopefully spot birds, dolphins, and monkeys. After dinner you will learn more about the Amazon Rainforest while enjoying a lecture given by researchers from the Mamiraua Research Institute.

Day 3: Discover the Jungle on Foot and by Canoe
Included: Nature Hike, Boat Excursion (in-group) | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast you will go on a nature hike through the rainforest. During this trip the specialized guide will talk about plants and their use for medical and commercial purposes and will also try to spot wildlife in the dense foliage.
Following lunch you will go on a motorboat excursion to discover the river systems and learn more about the biodiversity of the rainforest. To complete this experience, you will enjoy the amazing sunset on the river and try to spot nocturnal animals, like caimans.

Day 4: Departure

After breakfast it will be time for departure. A boat transfer will bring you back to Tefe airport.

- Due to AZUL flight schedules, this tour only begins every Friday.
- Other pousada guests can also take part in the excursions with their own guides; however, this is not always the case.
- This trip can also be booked with private excursions (price available upon request).
- The itinerary is an example program for the dry season and can be adjusted according to weather conditions, animal abundance, and the water level. Individual activities can also be replaced by similar ones. The Amazon region can be visited year round. Please note, however, that during the rainy season (from May to July) walking tours are limited. Instead, the excursions here are mainly done by canoe. Animal sightings cannot be guaranteed.
- Electricity is mainly generated by solar energy, since the lodge invests in sustainability. Therefore, electrical devices such as cameras, mobile phones, tablets, and computers can only be charged between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. when the sunlight is at its strongest.
