Info
- Luggage: You must carry your own luggage for the 3-day trekking tour. Your main luggage can be safely stored in Lencois.
- Overnight stay in a local's home: Part of the Pati Valley trek experience is contact with local people that live in the valley, supporting sustainable tourism in the region. The natives are all very friendly and receptive. The houses are simple, but quite comfortable. They offer good beds, excellent food, and all you need to continue your trek.
- Bathrooms: Simple, good space and good conditions and always clean. There's no water heating. Please be mindful that the only place you can use soap and shampoo is in the bathrooms at your designated local's home.
- Light: There are solar panels at the houses, providing enough light for the house, bathroom, and energy to recharge your batteries (camera, etc).
- Water: Fill your bottle at the house filter or at water sources suggested by your guide only. Remember to drink at least 2 liters during the day.
- Food: During the day tour, a full lunch will be provided with sandwiches, fruits, cereal bars, honey, etc. Breakfasts and dinners are served at your local's home, delicious homemade meals with rice, beans, meat, salad, potatoes, pumpkins, and other typical dishes. Remember to inform us if you have any dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc).
Items to Bring
- Comfortable backpack: It's important that all of the following items fit well, along with a lunch bag for the first day. For two persons, a small backpack and a bigger should do. The guide won't have extra space in his bag.
- Sturdy boots for hiking: You will be exposed to different terrains such as rocks, mud, and rivers, so we really advise good trekking boots or shoes (waterproof). Avoid simple running shoes, they might get wet and slow you down.
- Clothing: Wear light and comfortable hiking clothes with quick-drying materials. Bring an extra set in your bag and one change for the night (something warmer such as a simple coat).
- Socks: Wear good socks, appropriate to your activity. A good combination with your shoes will help you avoid blisters during the hikes.
- Towel: Bring a quick-drying towel for outdoor activities. Regular towels occupy too much space in your bag and may not dry properly.
- Bathing suite: We suggest you pack a bathing suit for swimming opportunities. To avoid rashes, only change into your bathing suit immediately before swimming. Change again when done.
- Rain-proof coat
- Sandals or flip-flops
- Sunscreen and sunglasses
- Hat or cap
- Insect repellent
- Flashlight or headlamp
- Water bottle (70 oz / 2 l): During the tour, your guide will advise you where to fill it.
- Hiking sticks: We recommend the use of walking sticks as they help your knees, especially on hills.
- Plastic waste bag: You are responsible for your own garbage. Remember to bring everything back.
