Pousada do Buriti is located in the heart of the idyllic village of Barreirinhas, not far from the famous National Park Lencois Maranhenses. Pousada do Buriti is the perfect place to relax, and a good starting point for tours and hikes into the dunes of the National Park, and visits to the center of Barreirinhas. Lencois Maranhenses is the only desert in Brazil, extending from the coast up to 25 miles (40 kilometers) into the mainland. The dunes and its lagoons promise unique impressions on your trip to Brazil. After the rainy season, in August to September all lagoons are filled with water, but anyway the larger lagoons persists also in the dry season and can be visited all year round. Pousada do Buriti is located approximately 1.9 miles (3 kilometers) from the regional airport of Barreirinhas.
